I'm falling hard for painting. When I am painting I feel these fleeting moments of weightlessness. These moments vanish and are balanced with a struggle to unite my hands with my brain. This back and forth frustrates me in wonderful ways. I am very much inspired by the work of Luc Tuymans and Marlene Dumas.

Luc Tuymans, Portrait
Tuymans particularly intrigues me because of his relationship with photography. He draws upon photographs to construct his paintings. He recognizes himself a painter, but is intrigued with the photographic process, even having dabbled with film. I feel like I found his work at an appropriate time. I am trying to explore possibilities, and seem to have taken a shift from photography.
However, walking in downtown with the weather the way it has been is making me miss my photo-hunt-adventures. Life is constantly full of potential adventures.
This blog is a procrastination from a painting I am to be working on.
